“While math and
science teachers are more likely to use technology as a part of their curriculum,
teachers in other areas are less aware of resources and potential
applications of technology for their subjects.” In this section, I will look at coarse
offering and the technology associated with all classes as it applies to real
world applications. Specifically,
I looked at the business world and in
job searches Microsoft Office was everywhere. So it seems that Microsoft Office
programs are a necessity to know if you want to succeed in the business
world. The University of Michigan-Flint offers classes in most all
applications in Microsoft Office, and has recently began promoting Microsoft
Office Specialist Certification. Carman-Ainsworth also offers classes in
Microsoft Software, but at a less in-depth level.

Institutions
need to listen to what the business world is asking for. We need more technology literate workers if
you can’t produce them, we will be forced to look elsewhere.
