My research interests are in database systems. I am interested in working on hard problems related to information management that will make a meaningful impact to the database community, as well as to society as a whole. My current projects are related to event stream processing, provenance (derivation history) metadata management, maintenance of materialized XML views, and context-aware critical information dissemination. My previous projects have been in XML query optimization (RAINBOW project), XML stream processing (RAINDROP project), updating through views, data modeling using XML schemas, and translation between XML and relational schemas and queries. You can find more information about my current and past projects from my Projects page.

I am interested in mentoring/advising students in database research. I believe a student to be a successful database researcher must have the following qualities.

The above are easily said, than done. I am willing to work with you on developing the above qualities, however, you must come with the right attitude.
