These pages are primarily geared to the beginning astronomer, and/or give particularly interesting information. For a few of these pages, it may be necessary to enter the Latitude/Longitude of your observing site, and/or the Universal Time (also called Greenwich Mean Time or UT) you are planning to observe. • Starchart Map Server - produces detailed postscript, Adobe PDF, or PNG sky maps of constellations or regions of the sky (you will need Ghostscript to view the postscrip charts, or Adobe Reader to read the pdf charts - they are both free downloads)
• Skymaps.com - 2-page monthly guide to the night skies of the northern and southern hemispheres including a sky chart and a short descriptive article
• Sky and Telescope Interactive Sky Chart - Create a custom naked-eye map of the whole sky for any place on Earth, at any time of day or night, on any date from 1600 to 2400. Requires free website registration and java-enabled web browser.
• StarCalc - planetarium and star mapping shareware program for PCs (Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP) and PocketPCs
• Star Wheel - make-it-yourself planisphere from Astronomy in Your Hands (paid subscription is needed to download the files)
• Uncle Al's Sky Wheels - make-it-yourself planisphere (constellation map good for any time of night, any night of the year - I believe it is for ~40° N latitude)
• Weather Underground Astronomy - get a map specifically for your location by entering the zipcode of your observing site here
