Amelie was released in 2001 by director Jean-Pierre Jeunet. It is a charming film about a shy young woman, Amelie, that attempts to change the lives of those around her for the better. It takes place in Montmartre, France. It is known for its bright coloring and soundtrack, composed by Yann Tiersen. It was also nominated for five Academy Awards.
