Elements
• Sit on ice and stand up
• Proper Stance
• March forward across the ice
• Forward two-foot glide, one time the skater's height
• Scooter pushes
• Dip or squat
• Forward swizzles: 6-8 in a row
• Snowplow stop
• Backward skating
• Backward stance
• Skating forward using full strides
• Forward one-foot glides: right and left feet, one time the skater's height
• Backward hustle: small alternating backward steps and pushes
• Backward Swizzles: 6-8 in a row
• Glide Turns in both directions
• Moving Snowplow stops
• Forward c-cuts on the circle: right and left
• Hockey turns with speed in and out of the turns: right and left
• Forward slalom: feet should be parallel and is a two-foot s-curve
• Forward stop-and-starts
• Backward v-stop: feet will be in a letter v shape
• Lateral marching crossovers: both directions
• Forward one foot pushes on the circle: right and left
• Forward crossover glides: hold feet in crossed position for two seconds
• Forward crossovers: both directions
• Alternating backward c-cuts on the line
• Backward one-foot glides: right and left, must be one times the skater's height
• Mohawks: right to left and left to right
• Hockey stop: two feet must be parallel and both feet must be used to stop
Skills up and beyond Hockey 4. For Hockey 5, basic concepts are built stronger and the student begins to learn their edges better.
