Basic 1

The elements in Basic 1 include:
• Sit on ice and stand up
• March forward across the ice
• Forward two-foot glide
• Dip
• Forward Swizzles: 6-8 in a row
• Backward Swizzles: 6-8 in a row
• Snowplow Stop
• Rocking Hourse: 2-3 in a row
• Two foot hop in place

Basic 2

The elements in Basic 2 include:
• Forward one foot glides: right and left
• Backward two-foot glide
• Backward swizzles: 6-8 in a row
• In place, a two-foot turn from forward to backward
• Moving snowplow stop
• Alternating forward 1/2 swizzle pumps on the line

Basic 3

The elements in Basic 3 include:
• Forward stroking, show the correct use of the blade and edges
• Forward pumps on a circle: 6-8 both directions
• Moving forward to backward two-foot turn, both directions
• Backward one foot glides: right and left
• Forward slalom
• Two-foot spin: up to 2 revolutions

Basic 5

The elements in Basic 5 include:
• Backward outside edges on a circle: right and left
• Backward inside edges on a circle: right and left
• Backward crossovers: both directions
• One foot spin: up to three revolutions with optional entry
• Hockey stop
• Side toe hop: both directions

Basic 7

The elements in Basic 7 include:
• Forward inside open mohawk: right and left
• Backward outside to forward outside edge on a circle: both directions
• Ballet Jump
• Backward crossovers to back outside edge in the landing position: both directions
• Forward inside pivots: right or left

































Basic 4

The elements in Basic 4 include:
• Forward outside edges on a circle: right and left
• Forward inside endes on a circle: right and left
• Forward crossovers: both directions
• Forwards outside three-turns: right and left from a stand still
• Backward pumps or c-cuts on a circle: both directions
• Backward Stroking
• Backward snowplow stop: right and left

Basic 6

The elements in Basic 6 include:
• Forward inside three-turns: right and left from a stand still
• Backward to forward two foot turns on the circle: both directions
• T-stop: right or left foot
• Bunny hop
• Forward arabesque or spiral on a line: right or left foot
• Forward lunge: left or right foot

Basic 8

The elements in Basic 8 include:
• Moving forward outside three-turns on the circle: right and left
• Moving forward inside three-turns on the circle: right and left
• Footwork (Repeat three times): 2 forward crossovers, forward inside mowhawk, cross behind, backward crossover: both directions
• One-foot upright spin: optional entry and free foot position
• Waltz jump
• Mazurka: right or left
