Course Description

The goal of this course is to familiarize engineering students with fundamental principles of computer aided design using three dimensional solid modeling techniques; including development of parts, assemblies, and the preparation of engineering documentation using Creo Parametric software.

Student Learning Outcomes

1. Understand different visualization techniques, and use them to aid in technical communications. 2. Develop the ability to communicate through engineering drawings. 3. Work creatively in a team environment on engineering project. 4. Learn to use appropriate modeling techniques within Creo Parametric to create solid models from given orthographic drawings. 5. Learn to create engineering documentation with orthographic views, section views, auxiliary views, detail views, and GD&T annotation using Creo Parametric. 6. Learn to create, modify, document basic mechanical part assemblies. 7. Learn to create, modify, apply dimensional relationships between part features, and part assemblies in Creo Parametric assembly mode. 8. Learn to interpret basic GD&T annotation. 9. Learn to apply basic FEA for design analysis of simple parts
