Sony is the company that can boast the fact that they have the best selling console of all time. The Playstation 2 sold 150 million units by 2011 which is pretty substantial! Sony is a company that, like Microsoft, didnt start out with gaming. They make a wide range of electronic devices but over the decades since the launch of the Playstation One, they have focused way more on thier gaming front as the Playstation 3 has shown with its substantial marketing and advertising as well as the recent announcment of the Playstation 4 being released at the end of the year, and it looks absolutely fantastic for a gamer. Sony had a very very rocky launch of the Playstation 3 with the price being above $500 for the console as well as numerous online service problems and hacks but at the end of this console generations cycle they came back strong with more exclusive game offers as well as a online service called "Playstation Plus", where they often give triple AAA games away for free to the subscribers! They were in a lot of trouble finacially but it looks like they are finally back on thier feet and really ready to fight again come this new console generation.
